Red Ball  Objective 1
             
Yellow Ball To collect and recode CVD risk factor variables from different European studies in order to create a common database.
Yellow Ball To compare distributions of CVD risk factors from different European populations Crude comparison
of available data will be performed. At this stage, differences in the methodology of data collection, laboratory measurements and quality control will not be taken into consideration.

Yellow Ball To prepare a brochure for the general public presenting European contrasts in risk factor prevalence.
The most relevant international differences in relation to diet and nutrition will be presented in French, Spanish, Catalan, Italian, English, Dutch and German.

 4.-5.97 Geneva center pooled and sent relevant parts of the questionnaires and protocols to each group.
 5.-6.97 Groups established the definition of new variables of interest that would allow the largest
comparison and sent it to Geneva.
 6.97 Geneva centralized new defined variables and send the coding manual to each group.
 7.-8.97 Groups recoded variables according to coding manual and sent the new dataset to Geneva
(FTP procedures on DMINOV2)
 8.-9.97 Creation of common database and analyses at Geneva center.
 9.97 First draft of the brochure for the general public. Common discussion.
10.97-2.98 Writing and common editing of a first complete version of the brochure for the general public.

Red Ball  Objective 2
     
Yellow Ball To determine sources of variability in data collection, biological measurement, laboratory methods.

Yellow Ball To prepare a brochure summarizing the technical sources of variability across countries. This brochure will be sent to public health professionals and politicians involved in public health issues, in order to allow them to critically depict data originating from different countries.
 7.-9.97 Groups determined sources of variability .
 9.97 Common discussion on data availability and sources of variability.
First discussion on outline of the brochure for public health professionals.
12.97-1.98 Additional analyses for gender comparisons.

Red Ball  Objective 3
Yellow Ball To assess the impact of the dissemination and the press coverage of the large public brochure.

Yellow Ball To assess the impact of the brochure for public health professionals. A questionnaire will be sent along with this brochure in order to obtain feed-back and suggestions for improvement.
 1.-2.98 Developement and common editing of an evaluation questionnaire for public health professionals.
10.97-2.98 Groups work on detailed intervention strategy for their study region.
Local interventions will be harmonized by concept of "EURALIM DAY".
2.98 Translation and printing of the final version of the evaluation questionnaire.
5.98 "EURALIM DAY" 19.5.1998
Press conferences take place in Paris, Geneva, Rome and Barcelona.
Observation of the local press coverage of EURALIM.
5.-6.98 Dissemination of  in total 60'000 brochures for the general public through
300 public health professionals in each of the participating 6 countries.
7.-8.98 Evaluation of the project by public health professionals (Evaluation Questionnaire).
Analyses of the evaluation questionnaire on local and central level.
